Defence Minister Nirmala Sitaraman inaugurates first office of Bharat Electronics in Hanoi, Vietnam
Defence Minister Nirmala Sitaraman inaugurated the first office of the leading defence PSU Bharat Electronics Limited in Hanoi, reflecting India’s deepening military co-operation with Vietnam.
The Fourth Vietnam-India Meeting was held on 13th June 2018.
Nirmala Sitaraman said that India is looking forward to expand its footprint in defence production and this is the best opportunity to come Vietnam with the technologies India have.
She also had a discussion with the Vietnamese Counterpart regarding the ways to deepen the military co-operation.
UNGA adopts resolution condemning Israel for Palestinian deaths in Gaza
United Nations General Assembly (UNGA) has adopted an Arab-backed resolution condemning Israel for Palestinian deaths in Gaza.
The resolution deplored excessive use of force by Israel and requested recommendations to protect Palestinians. The resolution put forward by Algeria and Turkey on behalf of Arab and Muslim countries. In the 193 Nation Assembly 120 countries voted in the favour of the resolution and 8 countries voted against it. 45 Nations abstained.
A bid by the United States to present an amendment, condemning Hamas failed to garner two-third majority needed for adoption.
Hundred and twenty Palastenian have been killed and hundreds wounded by Israeli soldiers.
Since then, weekly protests began on 30th March near Gaza Border.
Government extends sale of pre- GST Goods with stickers of revised price till July 31st
Sale of pre- goods and service tax packaged goods has now been allowed with stickers of revised rates till July 31st.
The Consumer Affairs Ministry said that the deadline has been extended on the request made by the manufacturers, packers and importers.
The details such as the “Country of Origin” should be mandatorily declared along with other declarations, including “best before use” or “use by date or expiry date”.
President Ram Nath Kovind to launch Solar Charkha Mission
President Ram Nath Kovind will soon launch Solar Charkha Mission which will entail a subsidy of 550 crore rupees in the initial two years for 50 clusters.
According to the Minister, for the Micro, Small and Medium Enterprises Giriraj Singh, the scheme is aimed at linking five crore women and self-help groups to the initiative.
15 new technologies will be set up out of which 10 will come into operation this year. These centres will provide technical support to all the small industries.
Cashless Ticketing through “Utsonmobile” App Developed by CRIS
The Centre of Railway Information System (CRIS) has developed a Mobile-based application “utsonmobile”.
The Mobile Application enables booking and cancellation of unreserved tickets, issue and renewal of season and platform tickets, check and load R-wallet balance and helps to maintain user profile management and booking history.
