B. S Yeddyurappa takes oath as Karnataka CM
B. S Yeddyurappa, Karnataka BJP President is sworn as Karnataka’s new Chief Minister on May 17th 2018.
After a one day full speculation, the Karnataka Governor Vajubhai Vala invited the BJP to form the new government in the state and asked Yeddyurappa to take the position of Karnataka CM.
The Governor has given 15 days of time to prove its majority in the legislative assembly.
Department of Commerce notifies creation of Office of Directorate General of Trade Remedies
The Department of Commerce issued a notification for the creation of the Directorate General of Trade Remedies (DGTR) in the Union Ministry of Commerce and Industry on 17th May 2018.
The Approval for the creation of DGTR was given by the Union Ministry of Commerce and Industry Minister Suresh Prabhu.
Suresh Prabhu launches Intellectual Property Mascot “IP Nani”
Union Ministry of Commerce and Industry Minister Suresh Prabhu has launched the Intellectual Property (IP) Mascot named “IP Nani” on 16th May 2018
This mascot was launched during the Conference on National Intellectual Property Rights Policy in New Delhi.
At the same time, the Anti-Piracy Video featuring Bollywood Superstar Amitabh Bacchan was also launched.
Mascot IP Nani is a new tech-savvy grandmother who will help the Government and the Enforcement agencies in combating the Intellectual property crimes with the help of her Grandson “Chhotu” named Aditya.
Swacchh Surveshkan 2018: Indore, Bhopal and Chandigarh stated as Top 3 Cleanest Cities of India
The Union Minister of Housing and Urban Affairs, Hardeep Puri released the results of Swacchh Surveshkan on 16th May 2018.
Indore came up to be the most cleanest city in India for second time in a row.
Chandigarh was ranked as the third cleanest city, moving from 11th Rank in 2017 to 3rd Rank in 2018.
Uttar Pradesh’s Ghaziabad was named as the Fastest moving big city of Swacchh Surveshkan from 351 Rank to Rank 36.
Jharkhand was declared as the best-performing state followed by Maharashtra and Chhattisgarh.
Union Cabinet approves National Policy on Biofuels 2018
The Union Cabinet, approved the National Policy on Biofuels 2018 on 16th May 2018.
The policy categorizes the Biofuels into different groups such as First, Second and Third Generation to enable extension of appropriate financial and fiscal incentives under each category.
The Policy expands the scope of raw material for the production of ethanol by allowing use of the products that are unfit for human consumption for ethanol production.
