PM inaugurates 11.2 Km Long Delhi Metro’s Mundka- Bahadurgarh Section

  • On 24th June 2018, Prime Minister Modi inaugurated Delhi Metro Mundka- Bahadurgarh Section of 11.2 Km

  • The Mundka- Bahadurgarh Metro Link comprises of seven stations, would be an extension of the existing Green Line (standard gauge tracks) from Inderlok to Mundka.

  • After this, the Delhi Metro will expand with 288 Kms comprising 208 Stations.

  • This is the third line of connectivity to the neighboring state of Haryana. Metro services are already operational in Gurgaon and Faridabad.

  • The Stations will be Mundka Industrial Area, Ghevra, Tikri Kalan, and Tikri Border while in Haryana, it will be Modern Industrial Estate, Bus Stand and City Park.

Gujarat CM announces Suryashakti Yojana for farmers worth Rs 870 Crore

  • On June 23rd 2018, the Gujarat Government announced the launch of Rs 870 Crore Pilot Project of Suryashakti Yojana (SKY). This is the first of its kind in the country.

  • The main objective of this project is to cover through Solar Power Generation. 12, 400 Farmers in 33 Districts through 137 Feeders.

  • Through this project, the farmers will use the Solar Power Energy for irrigation, and they can sell surplus power via grid.

  • The State Government will give a low interest loan of 35 percent of the amount for seven years.

  • The farmers can buy electricity for Rs 7 per unit and for the remaining 18 years at Rs 3.50 per unit.

India’s First Robotic Telescope opens its eyes to the Universe

  • India’s first Robotic Telescope located at Indian Astronomical Observatory (IAO) at Hanle in Ladakh has started observing eyes.

  • This telescope is designed to observe dynamic or transient events in the Universe.

  • The Main objective of this project is the Time Domain Astronomy that involves the study of the study of explosives transients and variable sources in the Universe.

  • The Project is funded by the Science and Engineering Research Board (SERB) of the Department of Science and Technology (DST) under the PIRE Project, administered by Indo US Science and Technology Forum.

  • The Robotic Telescope measures 70 cm. It would produce more than one thousand gigabytes of data in one year.

Sunil Mittal becomes honorary chairman of ICC

  • Sunil Bharti Mittal, the founder and Chairman of Bharti Enterprises will step down as the Chairman of International Chamber of Commerce.

  • He will now function as the Honorary Chairman of ICC commencing 1st July 2018.

  • He will be succeeded by Paul Polman, CEO of Unilever as ICC Chairman.

  • Mittal was the 3rd Indian to have been appointed the Chairman of the ICC since it was constituted in 1919.

Rajasthan Chief Minister Vasundhara Raje was awarded as the “Chief Minister of the Year” Award

  • Rajasthan Chief Minister Vasundhara Raje was awarded as the “Chief Minister of the Year” for his remarkable performance in the e-governance.

  • The Award was given to her at 52nd Skoch Summit held in New Delhi.

  • Efforts of the Chief Minister and the State Government were appreciated in implementing the Prime Minister’s Digital India Campaign for benefiting a common man.
