HRD Ministry Launches Samagra Shiksha Scheme

  • Minister of Human Resource Development (HRD), Prakash Javadekar, launched the Samagra Shiksha Scheme for School Education.

  • The main objective of the scheme is improve the quality of education, enhance the learning outcomes. The scheme uses advance technologies to empower teachers and children.

  • The scheme covers learning from pre- school to Class 12th . The elements that are included in the Scheme are- Sarva Shiksha Abhiyan, Rashtriya Madhyamik, Shiksha Abhiyan and Teacher Education.

  • Samagra Shiksha Education is focused on Digital Education.

Airtel Payments Bank appoints Anubrata Biswas as MD and CEO

  • The Airtel Payments Bank appoints Anubrata Biswas as Managing Director and Chief Executive Officer.

  • The position was vacant since the end of December last year when Sakshi Arora quit.

  • Anubrata Biswas will be responsible for taking convinient and innovative digital banking services to the doorstep of every Indian.

  • Before joining hands with Airtel Payments Bank, Biswas was the Joint General Manager and South India Retail Business heard for ICICI Bank.

Mission Innovation Ministerial meeting held in Sweden

  • The third Mission Innovation Ministerial Meeting was held in Malmo, Sweden.

  • Ministers and High- Level Delegates from 23 Nations participated.

  • Union Minister for Science and Technology, Earth Sciences, Environment, Forests, and Climate Change, Dr. Harsh Vardhan, led the Indian Delegation.

  • The objective of this meeting is accelerate the Clean Energy Innovations.

  • India is the Founding Member of the Mission Innovation and a part of Steering Committee.

India-Nepal Joint Military Exercise SURYA KIRAN to be held in Uttarakhand

  • Joint Military Exercise SURYA KIRAN- XIII between India and Nepal will be conducted at Pithoragarh, Uttarakhand.

  • The Exercise comprises of nearly 300 soldiers from both Nepal and India Army who would be sharing the experiences gained during the conduct of various counter-insurgency and counter-terrorism operations in the past.

  • This is a Biannual Event which is conducted alternatively in Nepal and India.

  • The main aim of this Event is to conduct Battalion Level Joint Training with emphasis on counter-terrorism operations in mountainous terrain.

Cabinet nod for India’s first sports varsity to be set up in Manipur

  • The Union Cabinet approved an ordinance to set up the country’s first National Sports University in Manipur.

  • A Bill to set up the University in Imphal (west) is pending in the Parliament.

  • Once the President signs the ordinance, things will move quickly, Union Law Minister Ravi Shankar Prakash said.
