HDFC Bank is the most Valuable Bank in the emerging market outside China
There are four lenders from India that now rank among the world’s 500 most valuable companies.
The HDFC Bank is followed by its Housing finance cousin Housing Development Finance Corporation (HDFC), Kotak Mahindra Bank and State Bank India.
There are now 11 Indian Companies among the world’s 500 biggest firms in the market cap.
Tata Consultancy Services (TCS) tops the chart with a market cap of $103 Billion, followed by Reliance Industries.
HDFC Bank has gone past Russia’s Sberbank to become the most valuable bank in the emerging market outside China.
HDFC Bank’s current market capitalization is $78.4 Billion against Sberbank’s $74.4 Billion.
International Round Table Conference on “Data for New India”.
The Ministry of Statistics and Programme Implementation (MoSPI) is organizing a two-day International Round Table Conference at New Delhi 9th-10th July 2018.
The Objective of the Round Table Conference is to discuss innovative ideas for improving the statistical system in India, taking cue from the best practices followed in advanced countries like Canada, Australia, and UK.
The Conference will be inaugurated by Shri. D. V Sadananda Gowda, Honorable Union Minister of Statistics and Programme Implementation.
NTA to conduct Entrance Examinations for Higher Educational Institutions
The Minister of Human Resource Development, Shri Prakash Javedkar has said that the National Testing Agency has started its work and will be conducting various entrance examinations for higher educational institutions for next academic sessions onwards.
Addressing a press conference in New Delhi, he said that the NTA will bring qualitative difference in the Examination Process by its focus on research and scientific test design using services of Experts, Researchers, Test Item Writers etc.
This new system will be student friendly, fair, transparent, and flexible, the Minister added.
Nepal, India to jointly promote Tourism
Nepal and India have decided to jointly promote historically and culturally important tourism circuits like the Ramayana and the Buddhist Circuit and Adventure Tourism.
India will also extend also possible cooperation in the domain of human resource development in tourism.
During a Joint Meeting of the Nepalese and Indian Officials, both the sides also decided to establish an Industry-led Indo- Nepal Tourism Forum with the support of the two governments.
Anju Khosla becomes the Oldest Indian Woman to complete Ironman Triathlon
At the age 52, Anju Khosla has just become the oldest Indian woman to complete an Ironman Triathlon- which is supposed to be one of the toughest one-day sports events.
The New Delhi resident completed her first full Ironman Triathlon, in Carinthia, Austria in 15 Hours 54 Minutes and 54 Seconds.
