IBPS PO Exam Pattern: Preliminary Examination

A candidate who will fill the application form has to appear in the preliminary examination which may be conducted in the month of September 2020. Candidates should refer IBPS PO Pre Exam Pattern to make their preparation more effective. The exam pattern of IBPS PO 2020 will give the idea of the total subjects, total questions, and duration of the examination. In the prelims exam, a candidate will get the questions from the English Language, Quantitative Aptitude and Reasoning Ability. There will be total 100 questions which will carry 100 marks. The total time allowed to solve questions will be 1 hour only.

IBPS PO Mains Exam Pattern

Candidates who will pass the preliminary examination will be called for IBPS PO Mains Examination. IBPS PO Exam Pattern for Mains is somehow similar to the preliminary examination. Candidates can easily prepare the syllabus of both the examination if they have idea of the exam pattern. IBPS PO 2020 Exam Pattern can be very essential for a candidate as it describes about the nature of the examination. There are two phases of the Mains examination i.e. Objective Test and Descriptive Test.

IBPS PO Mains Exam Pattern: Descriptive Test

In descriptive test, a candidate will be tested for Essay and Letter Writing. A candidate has to write on the given topic in the asked language. Candidates who will be able to secure minimum passing marks will be declared as qualified. The test will be conducted for 30 minutes duration and the max. marks alloted will be 25 Marks.

IBPS PO Exam Pattern 2020 – Interview (Phase III)

A candidate must qualify both Pre as well as Mains examination to get the call for Interview. Such candidates who will fail to qualify the examination shall not be considered for the last phase of the recruitment process i.e. Interview. Candidates will be asked questions related to General awareness, Banking awareness and others. One should update himself/herself daily with the current affairs and other informations which are of Environment related, National importance etc.

The total marks for which the Interview will be conducted are 100. The minimum qualifying marks in interview will not be less than 40% (35% for SC/ST/OBC/PWD candidates). The weightage (ratio) of CWE (Main exam) and interview will be 80:20 respectively. The combined final score of candidates shall be arrived at on the basis of scores obtained by the candidates in the Main Examination and Interview.

A penalty for Wrong Answers

A penalty for every incorrect answer will be marked in the Objective Tests of both Preliminary and Mains exams. Every wrong answer will be penalized by deducting 0.25 of the marks assigned to that question. There will be no penalty for leaving a question blank, i.e. in case no answer is marked by the candidate.

Final Score Calculation for IBPS PO Exam

There are certain important points on the basis of which the final score for the IBPS PO exam is calculated:

  • Marks scored in the Preliminary Exam (Tier-1) will not be considered in the final score. These are only taken into account to qualify Mains Exam (Tier-2).
  • Candidates need to qualify Phase-2 and Interview individually to be eligible for final worth.
  • The ratio of marks between CWE Main exam and interview for final merit list will be 80:20 respectively.
  • The aggregate of 100 marks is used for the final merit list for each category. Candidates with high merit rank in each category are finally selected.
