The National Eligibility Test (NET), also known as UGC NET, is a test to determine eligibility for college and university level lecturership and for the award of Junior Research Fellowship (JRF) for Indian nationals. It aims to ensure minimum standards for the entrants in teaching professions and research. Earlier, till this year CBSE used to conduct the NET Examination on the behalf of UGC (University Grant Commission). From this year, NTA (National Testing Agency) will take over this position and will conduct the UGC NET Examination.
