UPSC has released UPSC Prelim Result 2018. Candidate can download their UPSC Civil Service Preliminary Examination Result. The UPSC preliminary exam result is available on the official website of UPSC www.upsc.gov.in.  The candidates who had appeared for the exam are now waiting for the result. The exam was conducted in the 73 centers all over India. The UPSC exam was organized in two phases i.e Paper I and Paper II.

More than 3 lakh candidates had appeared for country’s biggest exam but around 10000 candidates able to make it for the next level that is IAS Mains exam. The next hurdle is the IAS Mains Examination 2018 which is to be scheduled in the month of September- October.

UPSC Prelims Result | Expected Cut off Score

As per the latest report paper was difficult, on some topics the difficulty level was more than the previous years. Considering the difficulty, this year the cutoff is likely to drop by few points at least. Last year, the general category cutoff was 105.3. This year, cut-off score for Prelims 2018 comes down to 100/200 or even lower.

About UPSC Examination

Union Public Service Commission is a Central Agency which organizes various exams for different posts Civil Service Exam, NDA, CDS etc.. The Civil Services exam is one of the most chosen exams among the candidates and it requires a lot of hard work and patience to crack the examination. About crores of the candidates apply for a small number of posts released and there remains a huge competition among the candidates. Only a few of the hard working candidates get success in this examination.

UPSC Prelims Result | Selection Process

The  Civil Services Examination comprises two stages.

  1. Preliminary Examinations

The preliminary examination is held for two hours and total marks for the same is 200 marks for each paper. Both the question papers will be of the objective type (multiple choice questions). Only those aspirants who are declared by the Commission to have qualified in the Preliminary Examination in the year will be eligible for Main Examination.

2. Mains Examination

The Main Examination will consist of written examination and an interview test. The written examination will consist of 9 papers of conventional essay type in the subjects given in notification out of which two papers will be of qualifying nature. Each paper will be of three hours duration.
The interview will carry 275 marks. The candidate will be interviewed by the UPSC Board.

3. Final Selection

Marks obtained by the aspirants in the Main Examination (written part as well as interview) would determine their final ranking. Aspirants will be allotted to the various Services keeping in view their ranks in the examination and the preferences expressed by them for the various Services and Posts.
