Many candidates want to take admission in this course because now a days there is requirement ‘O Level Certificate’ to apply for many government jobs. O Level Course is based on the computer training in which a candidate learns about computer applications and other technical things related to it.
O Level Course & Other Equivalent Courses
O Level Course, as well as other equivalent courses, are organized by NIELIT (National Institute of Electronics and Information Technology) which is recognized by Government of India and was earlier known as DOEACC (Department of Electronics Accreditation of Computer Classes). The Computer Courses offered by NIELIT are as follows.
A Level: This is Advance Diploma in Computer Applications which is equivalent to PGDCA (Post Graduate Diploma in Computer) completed from any recognised University.
B Level: This is Master Diploma in Computer Applications which is equivalent to MCA (Master in Computer Application) completed from any recognised University.
C Level: This is equivalent to M.Tech. (Master in Technology) completed from any recognised University.
O Level: This is Foundation Course in Computer Applications which is equivalent to Diploma in Computer Science completed from any recognised University.
CCC: This is course is totally based on the basic concept of computer. This is equivalent to Computer Science certificate (6 months) obtained from a recognised University.
Advantage of O-Level Course
Now, it is important to have a computer certificate if any candidate is looking for a government job. O Level certificate and CCC is generally required for many posts available Government Offices, Ministry and other departments. If a candidate possesses computer certificate then it means he/she is capable of performing basic computer operations which is generally required.
About O Level Course
There are total 4 subjects in O Level Course and separate examination is conducted for all papers. A candidate gets Project Work based on these 4 subjects and also he/she has to appear in Practical or Viva Voce of these subjects. In O Level Course, M1-R4, M2-R4 and M3-R4 are compulsory subjects. For M4-R4, a candidate has to choose any one subject out of three available subjects. It is completely personal choice of a candidate to select any one subject. FYI, M4 2-R4 and M4 3-R4 are easy subject as compared to other.
M1-R4 (IT Tools and Business System): In this subject, a candidate will get questions from Microsoft Office Applications, Operating System, CPU, Memory Parts, Output Parts, Input Parts and Number System.
M3-R4 (C Programming): ‘C’ is a Programming Language which is very important. For many candidates, it is a tough examination because the questions asked are completely technical.
M4 1-R4 (.Net Programming): The questions asked in this exam is also based on Programming. It is a quite difficult subject so most of the candidates choose M4 2-R4 and M4 3-R4.
M4 2-R4 (Introduction to Multimedia): In the examination of this subject, a candidate gets the questions related to Image, Audio, Video, Colour, Font, Animation and multimedia things.
M4 3-R4 (ICT Re): A candidate has to answer the questions related to Utilities application, PC Assembly, Networking.

How to Apply for O Level Course
A candidate can apply for admission in O Level Course via two medium (a) Institute (b) Direct.
O Leve Course Admission through Institute:
If a candidate wants to join an Institute to complete the O Level course then he/she will have to take admission in that Institute. The Institute will help a candidate in the completion of whole syllabus. Such institutes charges an application fee of Rs.15,000/- to Rs.18,000/-. The information related to Registration, Fee Payment, Exam Form Filling, Practical, Project, Result etc. will be provided by same institute.
If a candidate is capable enough to study the syllabus and do not want to join any Institute then he/she can apply directly which will cost only Rs.3,000/- to Rs.3,500/-
Eligibility Criteria for O Level Course
A candidate should have passed Class 12th from a recognized Board or should have completed ITI (1 Year after Class 10th).
Steps to Apply for O-Level Exam
The examination held twice in a year i.e. in January and July. The registration for the examination conducted in January can be done from July to September and for July month examination registration process is active from January to March. A candidate can follow the given steps to perform the registration process.
Visit the website of NIELIT i.e. www.nielit.gov.in
Find the ‘Student Zone’ section for registration.
Fill the registration form with basic details such as Name, Mother’s name, Father’s name, Date of Birth, Gender and others.
Enter a valid mobile number and email id for future communications.
Fill the name of nearest examination center.
Upload the Photo and Signature in the required format and size.
Make the payment of the Registration Fee which is Rs.500/- by using Debit Card/Credit Card/Net Banking.
The registration for O Level Course is valid for 5 years only.
About O Level Exam
There are 4 subjects for which examination is conducted. A candidate can appear in the examination in any session. A candidate can take the examination either 1-1, 2-2 or can take all 4 examination in same session. The other details about O Level exam are as follows.
The examination starts from second saturday of the choosen month (January/July).
A candidate has to pay Rs.500/- for each paper i.e. Rs.2,000/- for 4 papers.
The processing fee is Rs.100/- which is applicable whenever a candidate will apply for exam.
In Part 1, there will be 40 questions of 40 marks. The candidate has to mark answers on OMR sheet. The time allowed to answer the given questions in Part 1 is 1 Hour and the passing mark is 20 Marks.
In Part 2, there will be 60 questions of 60 marks. The candidate has to write the answers on White sheet either in Hindi or English. The time allowed to answe the given questions in Part 2 is 2 Hour and the passing mark is 30 Marks.
Candidates get Grade as per their performance in the examnation. The range of marks and respective grade can be check from the table given below.
O Level Practical/Viva-Voce
A candidate can apply for Viva-Voce or Practical only after clearing the examination of O Level course. The result is released after 2-3 months of the commencement of the examination. A candidate who passes the examination can only apply for appearing in Practical/Viva-Voce.
In Practical exam, Part 1 is conducted for 80 Marks in which a candidate has to solve questions on the computer. Part 2 is conducted for 20 Marks which is Viva-Voce. The Practical/Viva-Voce is of total 100 Marks whose result is released after 2-3 months for the candidates who appear in the examination.
O Level Projects
A candidate has to choose a Project out of 15-20 Programmes from M3-R4 (C Programming). The Project has to be submitted in the Head Office of NIELIT. If the project is accepted by NIELIT, then a candidate can download his/her Marksheet of O Level Course from the website.
