Highlights of South-Western Railway Recruitment for Sports Quota:

  • Availability of 21 Unreserved Posts for the Sports Quota to be recruited in Level 2/3 of VII CPC Pay Matrix.
  • Salary- Rs 5200- Rs 20, 200 with a Grade Pay of Rs 1900/2000/- in VI CPC for the year 2017-18 (for the Group “C” candidates)
  • The Last Date of the Application Form Submission is 12th Feb 2018.

Events/Sports/Discipline/Position Under the Sports Quota Recruitment of RRC Hubli

The recruitment comprises of six Sports/Game Category each having different events and positions and vacancies.

  1. The Athletics Sports Category includes 8 events/positions which are: 100 meters, 5000 meters, 800 meters, 10km/20Km walk, Triple Jump, 400 meters, Discuss Throw, High Jump. The total number of vacancies for this Sports Category is Nine (9) Vacancies 4 for women and 5 for men.
  2. The Basket Ball (Women) Category includes Pivot and Forward Position which has a total number of Three (3) vacancies.
  3. The Shuttle Badminton (Singles/Doubles) has Two (2) vacancies only for men.
  4. The Cycling Sports Category includes the following events: 10Km/15Km Scratch Race and 3000 meters/4000 meters individual pursuit. Each having one vacancy under the men’s category.
  5. The Volley Ball Sports Category includes the Attacker and Setter Event which has only 1 vacancy for men category.
  6. The Water Polo Sports Category has three (3) vacancy options for Men.

Educational Qualifications Criteria

The minimum educational qualifications required for the Group “C” Posts are:

  • The candidates must have passed 12th Examination or its equivalent from a Recognized University or Institution.

OR

  • Must have passed the matriculation along with an ITI Course approved by NCVT/ SCVT.
Note:

  • The candidates who are selected for the Clerk-cum-Typist category must have a typing speed of 30 words per minute in English and 25 words per minute in Hindi.
  • Must have an experience of 4 years from the date of appointment. The appointments to this category are provisional.

Minimum Sports Norm for the Recruitment

The Sports Norms for the Group “C” Posts with a Pay Band of Rs 5200- Rs 20, 200 along with a Grade Pay of Rs 1900/ 2000/- in VI CPC must have acquired (any one out of the following) achievements:

  • The candidate must have represented the country in the Olympic Games (Sr. Category).
  • Must have represented the country in the International Championship/ events (Jr/Sr. Category) for all either in World Championships or Asian Games or Common Wealth Games.
  • Must have obtained at least 3rd Position in the Commonwealth Championships/ Asian Championships/ South-Asian Federations Games (Jr. and Sr. Categories)/ USIC World Railways Championship (Sr. Category).
  • Must have obtained at least 3rd Position in the Sr./Youth/ Jr. National Championships.
  • Must have obtained at least 3rd Position in the National Games under the aegis of Indian Olympic Association.
  • Must have obtained at least 3rd Position in All India Inter-University Championship under the aegis of the Association of the Indian Universities.
  • Must have obtained the 1st Position in the Federation Cup Championships (for Sr. Category).

Note:

  • In Athletics, The candidates who have earned a medal-winning performance in the National Inter-State Athletics Championship (Sr. Category) will be considered for the Grade Pay of Rs 1900.
  • The candidates who are recruited under the Badminton Sports Category can also get recruitment on the basis of the Annual All India Rankings.

Recruitment on the Basis of the Annual All India Rankings

  • The Current All India Rankings for Singles (Sr. Category) is up to 12th Position. For Doubles it is up to 4th Position.
  • For Youth, Singles the Annual All India Ranking is up to 6th Position.
  • For Juniors, Singles the Current Annual All India Ranking is up to 6th Position.
  • The Annual All India Ranking is not considered for Mixed Doubles.
  • For Basketball Category, the sports certificate issued by Basketball Federation of India dated from 29-03-2015 to 26-07-2017 will be rejected for the recruitment.
  • The certificates issued for the participation and medal-winning performance after 26-07-2017 for the events organized by Basketball Federation of India (BFI) will be considered for recruitment.
  • In the Volleyball Sports Category, the certificates issued by the Volleyball Federation of India (VFI) dated from 03-01-2017 to 20-07-2017 will not be considered for the recruitment, whereas the participation and the medal-winning performance for the events organized by the VFI dated after 20-07-2017 will be considered for recruitment.
  • The above championships that are conducted under different Sports Federations must also be recognized by the Railway Sports Promotion Board (RSPB).
  • The recruitment under the Sports Quota will be at the minimum of the scale of the pay.

Note:

  • The Walk event under the Athletics Category will be taken for 20 Km.
  • The Cycling Event will be taken for 4000 meters Individual Pursuit.

In the Field of Sports Achievements:

  • The candidates must be an active sports person and must have an achievement time period in sports category for 2 years on or after 1. 04. 2015.

Age Limit Criteria

  • The candidate must have attained the age of 18 years and must not have attained the age of 25 years as on 01.01.2015. Which means that the candidate should not be born earlier than 2nd Jan 1993 and not later than 1st January 2000. No age relaxation is permitted.

Note:

  • If the  Candidate’s Date of Birth recorded in the Matriculation or Secondary Examination Certificate is same as that on the Date of the Submission of the applications, then the application will be accepted by the Administrator.
  • No changes are allowed once, the Date of Birth is entered in the records of the Administration.

Examination Fees and Exemptions Details

  • The Examination fee for the UR Category and OBC Category Candidates is Rs 500/-.
  • The Examination Fee for the ST/SC/PWD/Ex-Servicemen, Women, Minorities and Economically Backward Classes is Rs 250/-.

Note:

  • The Minorities includes the Muslims, Christians, Sikhs, Buddhists, Jains, and Parsis.
  • The Economically Backward Classes are those categories whose income is less than Rs 50, 000 per annum. For EBC Identification, the candidate has to furnish the Income Certificate.
  • The Income Certificate issued by the authorities must be in the prescribed format at Annexure-II which is available in the South-Western Railway Website. This would have to be issued on the letter-head of the issuing authority.

The Examination Fee should be paid in the form of Crossed Indian Postal Order from any Post Office in favor of Assistant Personnel Officer/HQ, South-Western Railway, Hubli payable at Hubli.

Application Form Procedure

  1. First of all, read all the instructions carefully in the employment notification before filling the application form. Make sure that you are eligible for the post.
  2. The application, as per the Annexure A must be submitted in a good quality A4 Size Paper. You can download the application form from the website and must be filled in English/Hindi.
  3. The application must be filled in his/her own handwriting. (No Capital Letters)
  4. The candidate has to paste one recent passport size photograph and must be duly attested/self-attested by signing partially on the photo and application form.

Who Can Apply for the Posts

  • The Applications that are filled is as per the Format of Annexure A and must be sent through an ordinary post.
  • The closing date of applications for the candidates residing in the North- East States, Jammu and Kashmir, Andaman and Nicobar Islands and Lakshadweep Islands and the candidates residing abroad is 27th Feb 2018.

Recruitment Process

The recruitment will be based on the trials and assessments of the sports achievements, Educational Qualification, General Intelligence/Personality etc. The candidates who are found fit in the trials will be selected for the next round.

Medical Examination

The candidates who are recommended for the appointment must go through the medical fitness test conducted by the Railway Administration.
